Rockville Esports Fall Season is Off to a Good Start

On Wednesday, October 7, the Rockville Charge Super Smash Bros Ultimate teams played two pre-season games. Rockville’s first team, Team 1, is composed of Nathan Kay, Thomas Sawyer, and Dominic Munson, who played against the Naugatuck High School Greyhounds, and Team 2 was Joshua Miles, Ian Nevelos, and Poppet Brouillard, who played against the Gilbert School Yellowjackets.

In Charge Team 1’s match, the first set was played by Tom Sawyer, using Samus. He lost both of the games in his set, but brought his opponent down to one life for both. Dom Munson played the second set, and also lost both games, playing Sephiroth. The last set was played by Nate Kay, who played Little Mac. He lost both of his games, but put on an impressive display of skill in match-ups where his character was at the disadvantage. The team may have lost the match, but they played incredibly well and showed promise for the start of the season.

In Charge Team 2’s match, Josh Miles went up first, winning two games in a row and taking his set. He played as Terry in both games 1 and 2. Next up was Ian Nevelos, who also won both of his games, playing King Dedede for both. Poppet Brouillard didn’t play a set in this match, since the Greyhounds had a missing player and thus forfeited the last set. This ended the match with a score of 3-0, getting the Rockville Charge Smash teams their first win of the year.
